IGLOO was opened as the second guesthouse of the owners of Social Hostel 365, who have been friends since junior high school.
It has always been our dream to create guesthouses that can be a home-away-from-home for backpackers and travelers from all over the world.
We believe that if we can eat and talk together, then we can create a meaningful community between international travelers, Japanese travelers and local people. Eating a homemade, delicious breakfast together each day can deepen our connection.
We believe that when we can connect, our personal journeys can be shared and we can create important moments in the life we share together.
As travelers, this gives meaning to our journey.
IGLOO is named after the indigenous Inuit made snow houses (Kamakura) that are used in the Artic Circle. In a cold, harsh northern country, hearts are made peaceful and minds and bodies made warm within these snow domes. That’s our aim at IGLOO.
That in coming here, it would have the feeling of returning home.
